Cool what is the purpose of this?

Hi,
I brought my truck into the dealership to fix an oil leak between my bellhousing and engine. They said they couldn't identify where the leak was coming from so they added a dye to the oil, told me to drive it for a week then bring it back - but my question is, they also said they recalibrated my PCM to the latest (whatever).. ever since that day my EGR temps have been about 100º hotter. I notice when I'm idling about to shut off the truck it usually warms down to 400 quick, but now it's at 500 and takes forever to cool off. Any idea why it would run hotter, and what's the purpose of recalibrating my PCM?

TIA

The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is basically a computer, that monitors all of the sensors in the truck and make adjustments accordingly.

Im not sure why it would be that hot, I had mine re-flashed a few months ago and I didnt notice much of a difference in EGT's but I could have a different flash that you do

I'm pretty sure that Ford pays the dealership to do those updates. So even if you didn't need it...you got it, and the dealership got paid a few bucks. Why it would run hotter I have no idea.

At the bell housing-block it could be the rear main seal leaking but it could be leaking up above and just showing up there.

I had my 07 reflashed a few wks ago at my dealer. I took it there purposely to get the flash update. It was under warranty, not $1 it cost me. They also replaced my Fog light assembly for free too b/c it wouldn't adjust. Try a different dealer maybe??? $100 sounds like a used car warranty deductable, not a new car warranty.

mines been leaking like that for a long time. i see no real fix to that problem other than really digging in there. im cool with a drip every now and then. and yeah the reflash shouldnt really change your egt temps. I would look into that some more

you are probably still in your factory 3yr/36,000 bumper to bumper. She was using the 5yr/100,000 Powerstroke warranty, which does have a $100 deductible.
