Cooler clean out

I see that B&D sells a breather kit for the crankcase on 6.0s. So that oil doesn't contamimate the inter-cooler. Is that somthing that should be checked for oil that has blown in there through vapor? I've never had mine apart, to see if there is or how much oil is in there. Any would not help anybody. Thanks

why buy the kit....

Just put a rubber expansion plug in the intake, then get some radiator hose, and attach it to the engine, and then dump it somewhere with a k&n filter.

I had a turbo supra and these issues alwasy came up. I cleaned the IC out by removing it and swishing Gasoline through it (8oz) to break the oil crud apart and using a garden hose to flush it 6 ways from sunday. That cleaned it out great. One option instead of dumping it under the truck is a catch can. this way the system is looped and you don't have vapor under the truck. I believe summit sells the catch cans I'm refering to. Another option is using a air/water seperator inline the vent tube. you can physically see the oil catch and you can drain it very easily. I believe either option is better than pure dumping the vent under the truck. my 2 cents from Turbo car use. But the end result is the same... no oil vapor/blow by catching in the IC.

I'm not sure on the 6.0's what the scheduled IC clean out is... I'd start by pulling the inlet hose off and checking for residue. Maybe someone else can chime in and tell us when the appropriate time/mileage is to clean it.
