06-07 f350 6.0?

Well i am having a hard time on deciding if i want a 6.0 or 7.3. I currently have a CTD 5.9 which will soon be turned in to pulling truck. But any way i am looking at getting another ford diesel as my daily driver. I have heard that the 7.3 runs forever and there main problem is cps and takes alot of money to make them fast. On the other hand i have heard that the 6.0 have tons of problems but with a scanner and a few other bolts ons they arent that bad
(EGR delete and head studs). PLEASE FILL ME IN ON THE TYPICAL PROBLEMS WITH BOTH ENGINES. so my question is to you guys which is better. i am looking for something i can do lots of mods to and have as a daily driver and it will be lifted. thnaks for yalls input

the 6.0/7.3 battle is on again! lol. i went from a 7.3 to a 6.0. i like the 7.3 better cause it seems to be a more durable motor and i've been through issues in my 6.0. but if you get a 6.0 then do some arp headstuds, egr delete/bypass, and a few minor mods and you will be good, but kiss your warranty good bye. one thing that i love about the 6.0 is that beautiful turbo whistle haha. just my 2cents. good luck!

I say test drive both and go with the one you like better. Either one could have problems.

I would go with a 6.0, they are more reliable than people say. With all my mods the dealership still does warranty work.

WHICKER, I did a lot of reading here and else where, and decided that a later model 6.0 was what fit my needs / wants the best when I moved up to sparkless ignition.

This is probably a debate that will rage on for the foreseeable future. My best advise is read up, and make an informed choice. Either way they are in a great truck

i have been in both. i like the 99-03 because of the leaf springs. but i want something with low miles like under 30 and i know im not going to find a 7.3 with that. do any of the trucks come with a 6 speed auto tranny? i think im going to lean more toward the 6.0 and deal with the problems that come with it..... Now power wise which one can you pull more out of? i plan on having the truck for a long time and will be modding it to the fullest.

No six speed auto in the Fords yet. The 7.3's had the 4R100 4spds, and the 6.0's and the 6.4's have the 5r110 5spd.

'05 was the change to coils up front, so you can find a 6.0 with the leafs if you prefer those. Though I honestly like the coils for the better ride myself.

I think the general consensus is that the '05 and later have had fewer problems then the early ones. Good luck with your search.
