if your talkin about the same thing if you have some one on the ground pushing and holding the dp upward you work the clamp around the 2 edges then slowlwy clamp it down then make sure an edge didnt flip off

Loosen the pipe connection that's at the headers. that allows the up pipe to move a bit. I also Loosen all three of the turbo's mounting bolts, and the three pedestal bolts you can get to with the turbo in place. Note Loosen don't remove. once you get the up pipe connected the turbo, and it's a nearly a sealed joint when correct, put the v clamp on it and tighten it. then tighten pedestal bolts, then turbo mounting bolt, then Exhaust up pipe bolts at header joint. I can take pics of joint im talking about if you like.
I spent three days trying to get that damn joint to line up. I suppose you could have someone push on the up pipe with a pry bar but it's way easier to loosen the bolts then it wobbles easily. took me 30mn to fix it and put everything back in to drive. when i do this again at 100k it'll be a 3 hour job or less. when we do my cousins turbo I'll take lots of pics and do a write up for us 6.0 folks. |

I did mine on my 7.3. It gave me hell too. Couldnt get the clamp on the up pipe collector to seal against the turbo. Painted my turbo, y pipe and all nice shiny red. Till I got all the exhaust smoke on it. Now its filthy again. My trick was to get the clamp installde correctly on the y pipe collector and push like heck on the bottom end of the turno next to the pedistal and it slid into place. tight fit, but saved me from loosening all those other bolts. I was on that route if my fix didnt work right. Good deal you got it on!!
