and ya like i said a wile back. nick told him to brig the truck back with a stock intake and they will replace the turbo for free good deal.

I am sure someone on this site is near this person. I am sure they still have the stock intake laying around. I am sure someone on here will let him borrow it.


Another thing you might want to consider since you go to pismo. Loose the K&N intake and buy a better one.

Here is a picture of a k&N that was on my truck. I was at the sand dunes for a weekend. You see those black spots, those are holes in the filter from the sand.

Also I know the filter is grey, I just got done cleaning it when I noticed the spots. I contacted K&N they wanted pictures of the filter on the truck. They did warranty it and send me a new one over night. But I also ordered the tymar filter for my truck the same night.

And then there those of us who rely on the Scruffy's of the world, I hope to not need a good diesel tek anytime soon but if / when hope to find one close by. I admire the guys and gals who have the ability to jump on one of these rigs, figure from codes and experience what is going on and make it right.
Now an old air cooled vw may be another thing, played / helped in the shop of one of the great vw hotrodders (now passed away) for several years, fun to watch and work with the experts

I can understand where this guy is coming from, and where the tech's are coming from. I took my truck into the dealer 2 weeks ago cause the Flex pipe was cracked and the axle seals where leaking, I chose this dealership cause I know the tech and trust him, all warranty work, Drop it off on Monday, get a call Thursday saying that I need new brakes and rotor's, well I just put new brakes on last summer and have under 15,000 miles on them, the service writer tells me that he can do them for $900 and tell me the axle seal leaked on them and hazed the rotors and pads and the truck is not safe to drive, I kindly tell him no thanks, well I call him back and ask him if the leaky seals caused the damage shouldn't it be covered under warranty? he said the seals wasnt the problem they was just wore down and unsafe, I let it go since I can get power slots for $230 for both. Well when I pick the truck up I find scratches all over the driver's side fender and all over the front bumper, open the hood and find the wire loom holders broke and just hanging there, plus whoever parked the truck left all the plastic on the seats and floors plus greasy towels in the truck. NICE I thought. So I drive home and find that the Tech didn't put the turbo pipe back on right,so after waiting a week till the can get me back in, I find that the Tech I took it to have work on it didn't do the job,he was busy and they let someone else do it, so when I take it back he has a different tech work on it, who threw a fit cause he had to fix someone else's mistake, and in return made me wait for 5hr's at the dealer before it got fixed. now I believe if the tech I took it to have work on it the 1st time did the work I wouldn't of had any problems, but unfortunately I got stuck with 2 guys with bad attitudes. the down side is it's about a hr drive each way to get this particular dealer, and I have to go back so they can fix the stuff the 1st guy broke, Bad Tech Good Tech? you make the call. Thanks to the one's who really put forth an effort and donate their time and knowledge, it's a shame the others give you a bad rap

I still cant finger out why erbody gets so butt hurt bout the "s" word? you can talk all the chit bout the company I work for all day long and ill glady agree with you. guess I dont have the kind of pride in my job as the techs here do but to me at the end of the day a job is a job I dont like bein there and i dont enjoy what I do but i have to pay my bills! I try to forget that stinkin place when ever Im not forced to be there.






As far as what I would do is if it where my truck is I would go to a junk yard and buy a stock intake box for 50 bux and then take your truck to a difrent dealership and tell them what the truck is doing.

The dealer told ya how he could help you, don't slap them in the face as well as the techs. I've had some pretty bad service work before too, but I don't exactly walk in the door and make them mad to start with. I took mine back to the dealer for a battery. It's under warranty. I did however ask the service writer about the fact it has a cai and exhaust, that those parts 'won't be a problem'. He was fine as long as it was the battery. He could have been a pain and documented the add ons, but just check it and put a battery in. I've run K&N filters for a long time with no problems but I don't get in sand either. I did get an AFE intake with a Proguard 7 dry filter for the diesel instead though. I was told the K&N didn't filter well enough by these guys, and I listened. If you want help from a friend, try not to insult them first. One of these techs may have had an old part laying in their box that could have helped you, and I'm betting they would have sent it to you for shipping cost. I don't work in the service industry per say, but building cars does require we build them right, with quality, and durability. Everytime I put a bolt in one, I want to know the customer got the best suv I could give him. If not, stop the line and get some to repair it. I want a well made truck so I try to give one. I can't afford my product but, if someone will pay $60-100k for it, I want them very happy. I've had a Lightning modded since 18,000 with a 6lb pulley, programmer, and other upgrades that stick out like a becon school bus. The service writer never said a word as they changed the oil and rotated tires. He wanted the business and I was too lazy to do it myself.

well said, You do find some in any industry who are there for the paycheck and do not much care and then there are the rest, I would hope mostly the rest. We had a few flakes in the shops I worked in but most of us built / tested hardware as if we were going to be flying on the planes and sure did not want them to fall out of the sky. Took / take great pride in those big aluminum kites. had hands on most RC135's, 707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 929(hydrofoil) and other projects inbetween.
I think some of the problem in the dealer world comes from service writers, customer attitude (I would not want to deal with the public).

AND THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM
I have a stocker I'd put on myself just to help out. Look hard enough for a stock set up and get that FREE TURBO

well let me start with this , i get up every mornin at 5:45 im at work at the stealer by 6:30-7:00, i get off at the stealership at 5:00 where i go to my shop and work till at least 10:00, i work every saturday all day and 90 % of sundays most of the day , in the meantime i take a few minutes to answer powerstroke questions and do my moderator duties on this site , why do i do what i do , because thats my job and its more than a paycheck to me , its a way of life and it keeps my bills paid, do i always like what i do, no i dont and neither does my wife of 12 years and my daughter i never see in which i will regret , and i'll say again, its my life i have to live it in order to have what i want and do what i want to do, so im hoping that will shed some light on the fact of why i get a little aggrivated with people when they beat up dealerships, because bad news travels alot faster than good news , thats a proven fact

so when someone that lives in my dealerships area gets on this site , asks a question about there truck, and some smart azz gets on here and says dont take it to your local stealership they will just screw your vehicle up , that takes money out of my pocket , hope that makes more sense

rankroddin i am by all means not bashing what you said at all, when i read thru this thread again, which in fact should have not gotten no where near where it has , what you had said just stuck in my mind when i read it


with this said , i would like for this thread to get back to where it originated from
