I like that $$ on stacks.well I just did a EGR block-off on a 06 tow rig and the tow truck driver said it was the best thing he put on? and he said he gets good fuel savings now and power.I dont know,it was a pain in the *ss and 12 hours to put on.first one i did.It came from liberator performance.now he wants to put a WW wheel in his 6.0 turbo,will it fit? I have the WW but what will it run like?

I saw no difference in mileage from exhaust. When I first got the truck, I installed DJ's economy tune and averaged 20.5 on my first trip running on the almost completely flat I-10 going 75 or so the whole time. After exhaust, I didn't see any real difference. I just went to Florida from north Kentucky and got 19.2 over the trip down with the bed full of crap and carrying 3 people. I got 15.7 on the way back with even more in the back and towing a VERY overloaded 12' Uhaul. ![]() I've never seen 16 or 17 in town. More like 14. I usually average high 14s to low 15s mixed. I sure wish I had one of the trucks that did that well. |

Just the other day I hand calculated my mileage over the last 1,100 miles or so and I got 18.63. I had noticed that I seemed to be getting more miles on the odo between fill ups lately, but didn't realize I had been doing that well. I'm certainly not used to getting mileage like that outta my truck, but this is the first summer I've had it. Just to double check my calcs, I figured my mileage over the last 600 miles. It came out to 18.32. I'm anxious to get an SCT with an economy program that also turns off the egr programming. Right now I'm running with both ends of the egr cooler plugged on stock programming, but I think the truck is defaulting to lower programming even though there's no SES light. Heck... my wife's minivan only gets 20 - 21, so I'm quite happy with my 18! 95% of the last 1,100 miles was unloaded at speeds below 65mph. Last edited by w_huisman : 07-08-2008 at 06:49 AM. |

Well I'm in the catagory of being pretty disapointed in the milage from my truck as well. I did about 16.8 on an 850 mile round trip this weekend. Out bound I saw about 16.3 running 80-85 on the Interstated and then 70-75 once I was on the 2 lane. Cruise pretty much the entire way. On the way back same speeds, though I saw a North of 18 on the interstate following my buddies 5th wheel a little closer then most would like. In town I've been seeing 13-13.6. I've been hand calculating every tank, and the dash meter and my math have been pretty close. |

I was reading an article in Diesel world (Project MPG) the other day,It said they went from 17 to 23.?? mpg with a few mods... From what I have been reading here, sounds like they are full of it. I would post the link but I don't know how, here is the address to the article. Project MPG: Part III
When I get back to the states I want to do something similar to what is in the article. I already have the Quad Xzillaraider installed , exhaust waiting to be installed, I just need to do my intake, I am thinking about the AEM DryFlow. What do you guys think? Is the article full of bull and is the AEM any good? Thanks Kirk |
