Great mileage while towing

First time towing with our rv, '07 6.0, and we are quite pleased with the fuel mileage. Not towing that much weight, probably just over a ton total, averaging 12.5 mpg on 'bad' roads Blue Ridge, Skyline Drive, 13.5 on 'better roads and another 1 mpg on good roads. To put things in perspective, our I5 Mercedes 2.7 lost about ten miles per gallon when towing the same stuff, the 6.0 loses about nothing on the horrible roads and about a mile per gallon on the good roads.

At Stone Mtn State Park, N.C. a gentleman towing about the same stuff but in a steel trailer (add another 500lbs or so) asked about the diesel and if we would purchase it again considering the current situation and all; when I told him the numbers he didn't believe any of it; saying he was getting about 7 mpg in his coach-it was a traditional class C though!

Am interested in seeing what happens when we get out of the mtns (going to the Dragon) and get to the coast.

Opting for the psd is STILL one of the best decisions we have ever made.

That much weight is not even enough for the 6.0 to break a sweat!

My trailer is about 10k lbs. that I tow with my 05 and average about 10.5 mpg and it tows it very easy.

Great Trucks!!!

So you have an RV powered by the 6.0 that you are pulling a small trailer with, not a truck pulling an RV trailer, correct?

Sounds like pretty good mileage for either situation though !

Streak, ours is an E450 van B+ rv, 24' (think of an ambulance sized motorhome)pulling a small aluminum enclosed trailer.
CHenry, I have spoken to two people today, currently in Tennessee, who are hauling a fifth wheel and getting the same mileage as you, that to me, is incredibly good mpg's.
