Hi, my husband and I are on the verge of purchasing a 2006, 350 with a 6.0 that has just under a 100,000 miles on it.

After surfing the net and talking to a couple of mechanics and a friend who owns a towing company, I am now convinced that our new truck is going to end up being used mostly as a yard ornament.

However It does seem that the 2006 didn't have as many issues as other years? So I was wondering if anyone knew what changes (if any) had been made as well as what kind of miles per gallon we might expect.

Thank you for your help
Deb

There is alot of happy 6.0 owners and a few not so happy! I would run an oasis report on the truck to see what if any warrenty work was performed to give you an idea if there has or might possibly be any issues with the truck. My dad has an 06 crew cab 250 and pulling a 35 ft fiver he gets 10-12 mpg and avgs 16-18 normal driving.

Welcome to Powerstroke.org

There are many happy 6.0 owners out there with lots of miles on their trucks, and no major problems. The first of those engines did have some issues, but those were cleared up in later model years.

If you do buy it, these trucks are made to WORK HARD. I would recommend driving it hard once each time you drive to keep everything in working order.

to the ORG!! I have one of the "problem" years and it has given me no issues. I think it is a very vocal minority that are giving these motors a bad rap. Def get the OASIS tells you alot about the rig.

I have 101,000 on my 2004 6.0 PSD and love it, I would highly advise you to get an Oasis report, After reviewing your finding and all is well. BUY IT. I will purchase another truck soon, And frankly I will be in search for another 6.0. I have not had to do alot to my truck but the normal maintainance.
Also if you find a good 7.3 or early 04 and older, BUY IT TOO. You will find 99% of 7.3 owners love thier truck aswell.

Good luck and Welcome again.
