What RPM do you shift at?

As I get my truck broken in a little more I have noticed that rpm's seem to come easier. During normal in town driving, I am looking at the tac and watching what rpm it's shifting at during acceleration and it shifts around 2500 rpm. My in town mileage is around 14 mpg and I am going on my first longer trip to the FL State Cowboy Mounted Shooting Championships in Ocala in the am so I'll have a chance to check straight highway mileage.

I have 2450 miles on her as of this evening. I have romped down on her a couple of times and she shifts at 3150 at 25 lbs of boost. During normal acc. in town I see about 15 lbs of boost.

I would like to know what others are doing on in town driving and when they mash their motor. Also, what is the redline on an '06 6.0Liter auto. tranny F350?

Completely stock, my 2006 shifts at 3600 WOT. I believe the redline is supposed to be 3900 but I can't say that for sure. These motors sure do zing up for a diesel!

Late Night Drag Run

After I posted this last night I went to pick up my son at a friends and found myself on a straight patch of road in a rural area. I stopped and staged like I would at the strip and let the big dog eat.

From a dead stop I mashed the motor and watched the gauges. She shifted at 3600 and the boost built to 26psi, man these trucks are fun. Didn't spin the tires but really pulled from a dead stop. The turbo lag was not as bad as I was expecting, I guess the VGT spools up a little faster than its counterpart in earlier trucks.

What fun this is going to be as the mods get put on the ole girl. Next stop is the pyrometer to establish a baseline stock EGT temp, then who knows...
