I have always heard to use 15-40 during the warm months, its thicker and provides more protection. and use 5-40 in the winter for easier startups

Amsoil AME Diesel/Marine 15w-40. 5w-40 is for 6.4/390 CID engines. (I do run 5w-40 synthetic in my 650 Arctic Cat 4-wheeler though.)

Running AMSOIL AME Diesel/Marine 15W-40 also. Newer 6.4 are required to run 5W-40 like Jerseyredneck1 states. Some are running 5W in cold-cold weather. Check the AMSOIL link and let me know if I can help
