Ok, I'm offsetting the cost of diesel.....
I'm spending about 1000.00 a month in diesel now, I don't have to drive my truck every day. I'm thinking if I spent about 10,000.00 on a nice bike it would pay for itself in a year. I'll drop my trailer and tools at the job and ride the bike until I start a new job. What would you buy? My preference is the Harley Sportster 1200 Nightster. My wife wants me to buy a crotch rocket. I've owned 4 of these bikes when I was younger but am out of the loop now. The top brands all have nice bikes in the 600cc class but am not sure which one is best. Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki? What are you guys riding and what do you like?

If you want something close to comfortable you want a sport bike from '03 or earlier, the new ones are so close to race bikes, they are only good for short rides anymore, look at the standard models if you are planning on longer rides.
Check out Bay Area Riders Forum , lots of info there. FYI, The current 600 cc bikes are getting around the same mileage as my wifes minivan....... |

i want to buy a new bike, and am looking at a Yamaha R6. funds have to permit first. a buddy of mine just bought a 2008 R6 collectors/special edition. Yellow with black flames. he said it was sweet, tons of power, rides great. if you like Yamaha, and want a good bullet bike look into this one!

I have always really like the Yamaha Vmax. It is kinda a cross between a cruiser and a street bike. Kinda like a striped down cruiser that is a muscle bike.

as far as crotch rockets go I always liked suzuki and honda. I have never been impressed with yamaha or kawasaki they are like the dodges of bikes, at least in my expeperiences. I wouldn't get anything under a 750cc but thats just me. I'm pretty tall and the frames I believe are a little bigger.

Dude, you own a PSD. Therefore, the only choice is a Harley. A Dyna Lowrider would fit your needs.

You are so right! I love Harleys but I also love the rice burners. Rob: My second choice would be the new R6, that thing is bad looking. Thanks for all the input. I have no idea as of yet what to get. Scott |

I have the Sportster 1200 Roadster. Love it! Getting something like 30 miles a gallon outta it.
As far as sport bikes, I've always been a fan of the GSX-Rs.

If I could voice my opinion, feel free to take it or leave it.
I love motorcycles. I don't own one but have ridden them and would love to buy one. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. One of my biggest concerns is the times that they are appropriate to ride. I don't think motorcycles make good daily drivers. Driving them in too much traffic can be a nerve-racking and somewhat frightening experience. The safety you get from a big ol' PSD far outweighs the money you might save by riding a bike. But hey, once again, it's your call. Good luck with your decision and stay safe out there! |
