15W-40 (or 15W-30 up where its cold!) and make sure that it is specifically designed for diesel engines. A bunch of folks here, including me, are running Shell Rotella-T.

I run Amsoil 5W-30 Series 3000 100% Synthetic in my 03 6.0L. Works great.

Amsoil 5w-40, the 5w is great on cold starts and the 40 is perfect at operating temps.
I know when I switch to Amsoil, the turbo would actually spin longer after I turned the truck off, I can only assume it's the better lubrication of the oil. |
