Play my silly game- What the heck is it???

Under the hood, passenger side, about halfway back. Looks and sounds like a tiny little air compressor. It's black and made of plastic. Sometime it runs (makes noise) when I turn the key to the accessory position and sometimes it doesn't. Just curious as to what it is???

I was ready to go look at mine and saw you have a 6.0. Sorry. Going to go look anyway....the sun just came out and the race hasn't started yet.

I got one too. It started "pumping" when I turned the key. Don't know what it is. Now I have to watch this thread too!

Looks like a canister with hard metal lines coming off the top? I believe that's the AC condenser or something that has to do with your air conditioning.

No....looks like what Shawn said. It's right up against the passenger side fender. It pumps. Guess it may be a vac pump for the air box dampers?

It's a vacuum pump for the heater and auto lock hubs if installed

Yup its the vaccum pump. Its shuts off when the system has enough vacuum.

I just went through a problem with the auto hubs, and my vacuum pump would never shut off, so I just disabled the auto hubs and went and got warn manual hubs.
