Reman 6.0 in 06 F-350
A friend of just mine picked up an 06 F-350 with 34k on it. I was changing his oil today and noticed how clean the engine was, so I looked closer and found a big green "Remanufactured Engine" sticker on the valve cover. I ran an Oasis for him a couple weeks ago, and it said nothing about the engine being replaced.
It looks like everything is new. The radiator, boost and CAC tubes, intercooler, etc. all are super clean and appear to have been replaced. He's really worried about his truck being a problem truck now and was thinking about trading it in, but I don't think it's a really big deal. I think the engine was replaced at the last service at 27k from reading some of the items on the Oasis, so he actually got an 06 with just a few thousand miles on it which is a pretty good deal in my book. What do you all think? |

I agree, If its a reman its a fresh rebuild. Did he get any kind of warranty with it? I'd run with it.

should have the factory warranty if he bought it that way.

Go by what ever the oasis says. As long as he is warrantied don't sweat it. You can get an engine looking new with a steam clean very easy. Also some simple green and a hose work well too.

The truck has a clear title, so it should have manufacturer warranty left. The Oasis I got was incomplete. It obviously had more pages that whoever pulled it didn't get. I posted in the members' forum for a new one, but that usually takes a week or so, so I won't know for sure until then.

From the parts mentioned here, I'm thinking maybe the EGR cooler failed and caused a catastrophic loss of coolant and it overheated??? It has to be rare to have an engine replaced in a truck with less than 30k, though. |

I'd keep it. He basically bought a brand new 06.

My 04 that I just bought had an engine installed at 64K. Had a EGR cooler pop on it. Has been great since I have owned it. JJ
