ya i use rotella oil 15-40 but make sure when you take that huge filter off, you put oil in the new filter prior to putting it back on your truck. good luck bud

He's got the 6 Liter not the 7.3 and yea Rotella a good oil to use. As far as filling the 6.0 filter bowl with oil before installing new filter you could but probably would get a little messy. I wouldn't worry about it.

Now on the 7.3 like mine I fill it b/c it is a regular canister filter not a cartilage filter and goes underneath the truck unlike the 6 Liter and the 7.3 holds a good 1 to 2 Quarts of oil.

Myself I use Rotella 5/40 Synthetic. It gets cold in the north country and it gave me a 1MPG gain year round. I just change every 4-5K or it gets black. I found faster oil pressure and less rattle. Just my experience, but I had tried Delo, Mobile, and regular Rotella.

Thanks for the info guys I just did it and was really tripping on the almost 4 gallons of oil going in there and I also forgot to pre soak the filter with oil but it should be alright. Right ?
