oil change intervals by the book

for some reason I was under the impression the owners book said 3k-7k intervals on our 6.0. Not sure where I got that idea from, but I looked at my diesel supplement book the other day before work (6am & bored) and it said 1,000 miles of break in, and 5k-7,500 change intervals. I could of swore the book said 10,000 break in, and 3k-7,500k OCI! man I was on the wrong page lol. Well I drive 35 miles 1 way to work, through the city (not realy bad) and out in the country at 65 or 55 for half of it. so I think I'm going to do 5k-6K OCI intervals. Have any of you guys had issues with doing 5-6k Oci's? I've done oil changes @ 1,200 mi and at 3,822 mi so far. Currently the truck has 6,300ish and the oil is looking good still.

I would say that you would be fine with that interval. I change my oil every 5k and my fuel filters every 15k. and i try to rotate my tires every time i service my truck

you have been lucky then....going that long on oil for most people tends to lead to injector and turbo problems. I wouldnt reccomend that long to anyone!! It may have worked for you but its not good advise...... i reccomend 4-6k depending on how hard the truck gets used. The oil is used in too many componants of your engine to mess with it. Its used in the base engine, the injectors, turbo, HPOP, etc....and that all is expensive to fix it it breaks so why risk it....
