Ford ESP...Is it worth it?

I just got a packet in the mail about Fords Extended Service Plan. There are 2 options: Diesel Engine Care, that includes 7 year/200K miles and it covers: Internal Lubricated Parts, cylinder block, cylinder heads oil pump, timing chain cover, timing chain, turbo (factory installed), cylinder head gasket, crankcase oil cooler, egr cooler, fuel injector pump, fuel injection pressure regulator and fuel injectors....the Diesel Engine Care Plus covers the above and: thermostat, thermostat housing, water pump, flywheel, manifold (exhaust and intake), manifold and bolts, oil pan, seals and gaskets and valve covers. It also states that "Failure of covered components due to normal wear resulting from defective material or workmanship are included, in addition to mechanical breakdowns." It also throws in the basic roadside assistance.

I guess I'm curious if anyone uses this service and what would be a fare price. I haven't called yet to see what the cost is.

Ok-I tried to call and get a price today, but I sat on hold for about 25 minutes. I know I have better things to do, were leaving to go camping and trying to pack, but I had to try and see how much it would cost. Kinda funny that I'm wanting to possibly spend money and I can't get anyone on the phone, but if I owed them money............

2k is a little much for me especially since I've only got 30k on the odometer.
Thanks for the reply

My way of thinking is that my worst fear is head gaskets, and for 2K you could have them replaced with ARP studs anyway, so why buy the expensive warranty?

I've bought them and in my opinion they are a waste of money most of the time. Put the money in arp head studs and other mods instead.

I was able to actually get a live person on the phone. The basic package is $2050 and the Plus packaage is $2200.00, so I think I'll pass....Sorry for sounding new, but I am, what the arp head studs?

I don't have them but they replace the head bolts and are of much harder metal that don't stretch like the factory bolts do when you ad d on a couple of hundred HP with mods. When the stock bolts stretch you blow head gaskets and other things and these seem to prevent that. dmax and Cummins also suffer the same problems when you bump up the HP.

Ah-ok, it makes sense, but why wouldnt the manufacturers have those items already installed. I know-I know, just a way to get your money. It seems like you would want to build the product in a way that would last...Just frustrates me. Thanks for the reply,
I think I'm done venting......for now.

Warranty is an extension of factory warranty. Last week I was quoted $1270 and $1605 for the Plus plan. Thats from Ford dealer in Illinois.
