Wikdslo's wikd rebuild bonanza!

Well, looks like I finally might have some free time from work, and a warm bay in Canadaland to tear into the truck. As far as what and plans, I'm very open to suggestions. Here's what I can offer up to you folks, if you could offer up your advice and opinions, it's all welcomed.

2006 F350 6.0
263,000km
PO purchased at the 175,000km marker. No history of major repairs, with the exception of weak batteries that took out the FICM. Batteries replaced, FICM rebuilt.

Coolant is at present a generous blend of Orange and Gold. *sigh*.
No visible sings of coolant leakage, nor have I noticed any white buildup around the overflow tank, nor have I seen the level go down in the 6 months I've owned the truck.

Boost is decent, but I did see it hitting 22psi in the warmer weather. Now I'm only seeing about 20 psi. I have a good build up of grease/oil on my CAC tubes, no CCV mod... yet.

Motor is all stock, as far as I know. EGR ... remains? PO didn't say it was blocked or deleted.
Had some stiction issues on cold weather cold starts. Rotella T6 recently, Archoil 9100, and Voila!

I think I might have an exhaust (gasket?) leak? When I'm idle, windows up, and i turn on the air i can smell a bit of a diesel exhaust smell in the cabin. Not sure if that is just the nature of the beast but I remeber reading once that someone mentioned that it was an exhaust leaking causing the diesel exhaust smell in the cabin when the air would come on.

So, now on to the list.

Currently done.
IPR coolant filter, T'ed into the heater line. Has been working well thus far.
Blue spring update.
New Ford Coolant filter cap.
Rotella T6, archoil, fuel filters.
~fin

So my plan is to first try and test the head gaskets. Provided there is no leak, then I will proceed as planned:

Start with the coolant flush.
--I have to source the restore and restore plus. In canada, we don't get the same kinds of suppliers local to us, so it's harder to find. Is this something Ford might have?

--Just replaced the Tstat so I'm going to remove it to make that process go quicker and replace it when done.

Once the coolant swap is done, and water is in the system, I will tear into the oil cooler. It's only showing a 9 degree differential right now, but I'm sure that the coolant flush will be the nail in the coffin.

While I have the oil cooler under way, I would like to get into the Turbo and either clean it up myself or have the local turbo shop do it. There is a place called Alamo right beside me that rebuilds turbo's, of all sizes. Is it worth getting them to clean it up and replace the seals/o-rings or do it myself?

Now, I'm going to assume that there are other things I should do when I'm in there. The question of the BPD kit for remote oil cooler and what not will be done later, when I hope to have more time to do the heads/studs. For now, i just want to get the other stuff taken care of.

What else should I be buying/replacing?
Which EGR delete? I was thinking the IPR, as it has pretty good reviews and I'm quite happy with the quality on their coolant filter.

Pics will be posted up soon!

And Thanks!

Looks like you have a pretty good plan
1 your exhaust smell could be leaking bellows in your up pipe which also can effect your boost
2 have no experiance with ipr looks like a nice piece i have RCD delete also a nice piece
3 i wouldn't be affraid to tackle your turbo not a hard job there's some good vids on youtube that will help

Was thinking about doing the turbo myself. Went through a couple threads about doing it and it seemed straight forward enough. I will check into the up pipe situation. Not too sure what up pipe but I'll do some homework

Will look into the stand pipes, dummy plugs and the STC fittings as well, thx.
Are they just updated factory parts I would buy from Ford?

Trouble indeed, but it's worth every bit.
