Can I disable the autolock?

That's the most annoying feature of my truck. I'm constantly getting out of my truck, maybe going to the bed, then having to go to the passenger side to get something out, only to find the door is locked. Then I have to go back to the driver's side and hit the unlock button. If I want to lock the doors when I take off, I'll lock them myself! Is there any way to disable this?

Yes you can, i did mine and it is really nice.
Your owners manual has a section in it with step by step instructions on how to do it. I can't remember the page number or section but look under door locks maybe.
Theres also a writeup on here somewhere posted with instructions...i'll see if i can find it.

There should be something in your manual about disabling the autodoor lock. I prefer to have mine locked because theres a lot of weird people in this world.

It's all in the manual. Why don't you keep autolock ENABLED, and ENABLE autounlock since you say you like to get in and out of your truck? I don't think you would get out of your truck while it's moving, so enabling autounlock makes sense. :-)

Same here. I had looked in my owner's manual about disabling the autolock, but I guess I didn't look hard enough.

it can be done, i had to do it in our expadition, glad my F250 doesnt do it, I parked on a hill once and when it rolled a tad bit forward the doors locked me out! i was pissed, but I do llike that one fords when you pull the handle it unlocks the door.

Im with 6litergearbeater on this one..It so annoying when you go to get out..my truck almost like doesnt open unless i unlock the doors from the inside when im about to get out of the truck.my old f250 didnt have that feature and it was nice..and ill tell you what is the MOST annoying part when you get out and if you dont unlock it and go to the other side of the truck to open the passenger door...WOW that there has got to be the most annoying, frustrating thing ever!

Models prior to '08 shouldn't be any different. It's too expensive for Ford to vary features from model to model and year to year. It's on page 146 of my '08 F250 manual (and should be pretty close to the same page for other manuals). Anywho, find the section that talks about autolock, and the autounlock procedure should be following it.

I've come from years of owning nothing but Nissans. And their procedures to do simple things like programming the remotes/etc are not published in their manuals (they want you to go to the dealership and pay to have it done). I was surprised to see that Ford tells you how to do EVERYTHING you could possibly need/want to do! :-)
