Tranny fluid

Its time to change the tranny fluid in my 04 CC SRW truck. So the question is do i replace it with Mercon SP like from the factory or do i go with synthetic? What are the advantages to either? And if a synthetic which brand and is it compatible with teh 5R110 trans? Thanks David

I think you will find the general opinion to be that Mercon SP is the only fluid to use in the 5R110. Amsoil claims to be compatible but Ford hasn't given the ok as far as I know. Unless you have an exchange machine you aren't going to get but half of it out anyway so why mix it up?
