silencer ring?

Has anyone heard about taking the silencer ring out???
One of my buddies told me to take it out to get more whistle out of my truck does this hurt or does it even exist and if it does how hard is it for a shade tree mech??

I'm fairly certain on Fords, there isn't a silencer ring... thats a Dodge thing

I know on all the Dodges I had I removed them and all it did was make them whistle more, no performance added. I was fiddling with my intake the other night and thought I saw a silencer ring on my VGT but I think it is stationary it does not clip in with a snap ring like the dodges. On the Holset turbos on the cummins engines it is a 2 min job to R&R it.

YEP It's a Dodge thing. Unless Ford did something with the 6.4 that I haven't heard of yet.
