All 6.0s have an external tranny filter. It is located inside the frame rail on the passenger side just in front of the front wheel. It is a silver/aluminum cannister that contains a filter that looks like a partial roll of toilet paper.

Well my 2002 F-250 had one. It was located on the passenger side by the radiator it was placed inline of the trans cooling lines. It was an inline filter. My trans shop removed it saying it was restrictive. They did that when my trans was rebuilt.
