i've heard 220 personally. remember you have a fully synthetic setup so temp is not as critical as on older trannies... but you should never see it get that hot if everything is running prpperly. i have friends with tranny gauges and they say they usually run around 150-160 max even on hot days and when towing.

Ive never seen mine get over 160. Most of the time it's at about 145.

According to a Ford 5R110 engineer who worked on and helped designed the transmission, 230* is not a problem for this transmission. Most of the guys here that stated 145-170 are right on the money about normal operating temps though.

Towing heavy loads (25,000 lbs total vehicle weight) in 90 degree temps, I have not seen much more than 190 degrees. Like others have said avg running temp is 145 to 160 depending on outside temperature. I personally intend to keep mine under 210 and prefer to be under 200 for extended periods.
