2004 and 2006 transmission and transfer case
Alright so I have a friend of mine that has a ford factory transmission and transfer case from a 2006 Ford F350 6.0 diesel 4X4 with really low miles that is willing to get it to me for cheap money. My question is before I decide to grab it will the 2006 transmission and transfer case just bolt right on to my 2004 (built late 03) F350 6.0 diesel 4X4? I assume it should, but I wanted to get some info from you guys first. My truck as 62K miles on it and this 06 tranny and transfer case has only a couple thousand. I figured I'd take the new tranny and just sell mine. Are there any tranny upgrades between the two years? I've had no problems with my tranny or transfer case, but thought it would be nice to have a tranny with a lot lower miles for cheap. Any input? Thanks guys.

It seems like it would be a lot of work to change out the tranny and transfercase when nothing is wrong with the one on your truck. If you are going to change transmissions I would say build up the one you get then put it in the truck.

yup. at least put a suncoast kit on it, and THEN swap them out. and put a billet converter in it while you're at it.
