Im Scared
I just decided to run my truck through and i looked down and the tach was at about 4600 rpm! it wouldnt shift out of first thats y i looked down! WTF Is Going On!! I thought the SCT wouldnt let it go tha far! Its gonna freaking blow up if it lets it get that high! I dont even want to get on it now! It blew out some white smoke and acted funny for about a mile or 2 after it happened...Anybody know why this happened and will it do it again if i try to run it through again...

Can't you lower the rev limiter with the SCT? I can.... but it lowers it into the 3's... which is far to high for my low revving 7.3 LOL

4600 rpms won't hurt it.

all of the custom tunes I have are pre-set limited to about 4150-4250 I think. You can easily change them up or down in the options menu on your Xcal but if you haven't messed with them then you shouldn't have been able to rev that high. I'd unload the program, and then reload your tunes from your computer to your Xcal again. I'd also call whoever wrote the tune you had that happen in and discuss it with them, they might be able to provide you with a better explanation and a fix.

also when i let off the throttle now from a steady 65mph it goes down fine to 60 then sometimes it gives a little jerk...

Mmmm, now I can't explained the white puffs...but it sounds like the truck went into its "Panic"/"Limp" mode...it only has happened to me twice. Once I got hard on it coming out of a station after just recenetly switching tunes. The truck "panic" like it didnt know what to do and bounced off the rev limiter then eventually shifting and ran fine. The second time was coming back from NC and racing a Tacoma, we were going so fast and hard my truck defueled I believe and bounced off the rev limiter.
I am going to send this thread to Eric at IDP and see if he can chime in. |

OK, I sent this thread to Eric...when he logs back on, he is usually pretty quick about getting answers. Or you can email him directly if you want a more immediate answer.
