How many miles? They will go a long time. A lot longer than I am comfortable with!

depending on your driving conditions I've heard of 50,000 to 60,000 miles on a stock filter. Those things hold A LOT of dirt and still filter and flow well. It won't hurt a thing to let it go until your filter minder says to change it, but if you really want to spend the money, go ahead and change it early its up to you. It was me considering how much a replacement donaldson filter costs I'd run it till it was full.

I changed my filter a week after I bought my truck (130k), the filter minder deal was showing the filter to be new cond., I put a new Fram filter in it (33.00), and the power difference was noticeable, I'm just going to change fuel and air filters every 10k, cant hurt.

if it chokes off the air from being clogged, you will know it.
