So, there I was...
I got my new SCT Livewire in the mail from ET Motorsports on Friday and plugged it in on Saturday (my wife made me wait...) I had to run up to Sears to pick up a christmas present and the truck started idling rough. I knew it wasn't from the programmer, since its been doing it on and off for a while.
So, this morning I decide I need to crawl under the truck and drill/tap the EGT probe and decided to unplug the EGR Valve while I was under the hood. I spent about an hour on the forum trying to narrow down a thread that told me where the darn thing was and then went out and did the easiest mod I could possibly do to the truck. (The next easy mod will be the ZOODAD)
Since the truck had been sitting all night, I figured it was the best time to unplug the EGR...so once I had the EGT probe mounted and wires ran, I fired the beast up and waited for the CEL to pop on, which it never did. Drove the truck around for about 15 minutes to "test" the Performance program and the EGT probe and the truck ran great! (it's nice seeing a black cloud hanging in the air at a stop sign) Came back to the house and took care of a couple "honey-do's" and then went to a friends place about 20 minutes away. Truck ran great all the way up there, so once I got there I decided to let the truck idle for a while and it never hiccupped. And I NEVER got the CEL.
I know I don't have enough mileage to prove that the EGR was causing my idle problems, but I feel pretty darn confident that it did. Now, I'll be looking into the EGR delete pipe, which I'll probably do when I put the new 4" TB exhaust on.
But, now that I have a monitor, I have to ask one question...what's the normal start-up Oil Temp and the normal operating Oil Temp? My oil temp seems to be hanging out around 250 when I'm cruising down the road at 45mph...
