I got my dc engineering alt, and it says cut the factory harness and wire the yellow the the yellow but there isn't a yellow cable in the factory harness.

That's weird. I didn't have to modify anything when I installed my DC Power alternator.

Alternator in, batteries tested out ok, still getting 6,7,8 volts on cold start crank.

Are you reading this voltage directly from the batteries while cranking or are you going through the OBD port?

I would check from the batteries themselves, you might be getting an erroneous reading; unlikely but possible.

Alternator
Maybe, but the truck barely started this morning. I just got both batteries tested and they both came back good for CCA and voltage.

those instructions are strange
but if your dropping that low on crank you have either bad batts/bad starter or some other wiring issue IMHO |
