Problems with 2004 6.0?

A very close friend of mine is looking at a 2004 F350 Crew cab, dually FX4 with 74,000 miles for 26K. Is this a decent price? And if so are there any common problems the 2004 had? I.E. engine, transmission, etc?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

the late 04's were mostly ok. the early ones were prone to HG problems and EGR cooler problems. I would have an OASIS run on it and go from there

I don't know the specific problems with the early years but I think they were the same as all of the 6.0's. I love my '04.

I have a late 04 with 55000 miles on it and I have had no problems with it so I would not be afraid to buy it. Just do like everyone says and get an oasis report on it first.

04's

04 here with 03 build date. I noticed on mine when i got it at 29k miles that from the bottom side of motor their was oil visible on valve covers. Took it into ford and they had some problems with the orings on the injector harness or something like that. Other than that, i have not had any problems except stuck turbo caused by excessive sitting from previous owner. If you get it and it has tons of insulation wrapped around the stock downpipe, get a dremel in there and cut the wire that holds it on the downpipe before you try to wrestle it out. I didnt know that tidbit when i did my system and it was a PITA. Im now at 45k miles and still no problems. Never puked a day in its life yet.
