7.3 to 6.0 swap

Hey all. Anybody ever to a 7.3 to 6.0 swap? .. My 7.3 is needing a full rebuild and I'm just curious if I run across a cheap 6.0 .. Are the blocks and everything completely different?

Send a message via Yahoo to Dave
You would need complete motor, wire harnesses, PCM, and transmission to do it

Well dang it, I'm not too keen on that. That answers my question though. =)
Regarding the Why, I would do this, I'm just looking at my options. I dont have money to toss around so if a good deal on a 6.0 came around and if it were an easy swap i'd be up for that, but alas, it is not easy or cheap apparently, so that will not be my course of action. A local wreck'n yard can get me a 70k 7.3 complete from a wrecked F350 for $3300.. I'm debating that if I cant fix my current unit.

A full rebuild at only 140k, what did you do to that thing?

The problem I see with the wrecking yard is by the time they have the motor sitting on the gorilla rack, you don't know if it came out of a 699,000 mile truck that was ran into a ditch and under water.
The junk yard rats will tell you what ever to sell you a product.
I could have gotten a 4R100 tranny from a junkyard that quoted me $950.00 WITH converter "from a truck with 105,000 miles" but what option would I have had if I put it in and it didn't work?
Where are you located?

Don't do it. Either rebuild the one you have or get another 7.3
