I need a new one, Tousley has 4 of them, what are the differences in them and which one do I order?

Just give them a call with the last 8 numbers of your VIN# and they'll give you the right part #.

It'll either be the 3rd or 4th option unless you have dual alternators.

What year is your truck? Pure Diesel Power | Diesel Performance Parts | Diesel Power Chips has 03-05 alternators for $185.00, I'd try that.

The top alternator on the dual alternator set ups will work on a single alternator truck. A original single alternator truck alternator is 110a, the top alternator on a dual alternator truck is 140a.

For $23 more, you get 30amps more.

My factory alternator died after two years, and the "new" OEM alternator that replaced it lasted less than that. Bought a 200a unit from alternatorparts.com and that lasted just over 2 years. Figured I'd try DB Electric and that alternator was bad right out of the box. Sent it back and got my money refunded. So I pulled all the spare change out of the sofa and ordered a 300a alternator from DC Power, but I haven't had it long enough to comment on it's service life.

Love my DCPower Alternator (250A)!

You should NEVER go back in w/ a 110A unit. At LEAST upgrade to the Ford 140A unit as mentioned earlier!

Here's my question. If you aren't running anything extra on the electrical system like stereos, lights, etc., will it hurt to put a high output alt on the truck?
