how much $$ to get turbo replaced

What is a fair price to change a turbo out for someone. After doing all my stuff to my truck I now have people asking me to work on there truck. I have done a bunch of car repairs, but this is the first for medium duty diesel repairs. I build semi truck transmsissons and diffs for my day job, but first time doing medium duty diesel repair.

Unfortunately I have gotten good at taking my turbo out. Last time for my IPR valve it only took me around 2 hours to remove and replace it. But I can see it going different if his turbo has never been out before.

If it were me doing it, I'd say around $1,000, but that's just me

My labor time was for some peoples trucks.....Not going to name names...^^^^

Some exhaust pipes are RUSTED on that sucker... trust me!
AND, some bolts are stripped from a "not so smart" person that tries to do it with a 12 point socket (especially the back and drivers side bolts)

most shops charge an hourly rate of at least 100 an hour.... so depending on how long it takes you to do it i would say at least 200.00

My time is worth about $27 an hour, knowing me I'd do it for a couple of beers.

Depends on the friend factor. What would a shop would charge? $0-$60/hr would be fair for 2 hrs, maybe even a bit low if you really don't want to do it. Of course the problem then becomes who does what next and what happens if you break it? Insurance a concern?

I do lots of stuff for free! Mostly trouble-shooting and welding. It usually gets paid forward.
