Replacement turbo on my 04 (whistle)
Hey Guys,
I've been getting some flutter out of my airbox on deceleration, when the turbo kicks in. I'm about to clean out my EGR valve and the turbo itself. If I have to replace its, I was doing my research and had a question for ya'll: Looking at this turbo: GarrettŪ model GT3788VA turbocharger Will it whistle just like my stock one? I know its kinda stupid, but who doesn't love that sound? |

would you call it a turbo fart? that is normal

That could either be normal (turbo fart) or your turbo vanes could be getting stuck due to soot clogging them up.
When you hear that sound, is that from a sudden drop of your throttle, or even when you let out of it slowly? suddenly dropping your throttle will make that sound and is normal, but not good for the turbo. |

Any ideas about if the new turbo will have that sweet whistle like my stock one? |

That Garrett GT3788VA will whistle like you turbo, it has the same turbine housing and wheel.
But, like these guys are saying, take your turbo apart and clean it first, the vanes might just be sooted up and not operating at 100% |
