Extended Warranty

Did some thread searching and seems there is much conflict over whether or not to buy and extended warranty. If they are worth the money. I have an '05 with 34600 on it and am looking into purchasing one... yes or no?? i haven't had any major issues of yet , alternator, battery, and an ignition cylinder. interested to see the results. if yes, any of you have a specific plan that you have purchased (heaven forbid, used) that you are happy with?? Need to pull the trigger pretty soon. thanks in advance to all for the help.

to my knowledge (from dealer). my 05 has a 3/36 bumper2bumper, 5yr/100,000 power train warranty....i have read in other threads that the 5/100,000 is for engine only and there may be a 5/60,000 powertrain warranty. My local dealer claims to warranty the entire powertrain for 5/100,000. i guess i should get that in writing, but i know the 05s have a 5/100,000 engine warranty unless previously voided.....wow....too many numbers

I can help since I am doing this now. I originally purchased an extended warranty 5 year or 100k, well 5 years have passed and only replaced the EGR cooler. The EGR was covered under the motors 5 year or 100k warranty. I have found out there are 3 different warranties. The initial 3 year or 36k, the 5 year or 100k on the motor and the transmission has a separate one as well I do not remember the yeas or miles. If you decide to purchase an extended warranty your truck will have to be re certified (inspected) to see if you qualify. I do not know what they look for or what would disqualify a truck for an extended warranty. I do know you that you have to get it before you are out of warranty. Initially we were told that we could not get an extended warranty because the truck was older than 3 years old and had more than 50k miles. I told the the Finance Guy BS..... we have an extended warranty. Ya the sad part is you have to deal with the Finance person to get an extended. I will post up the info on the inspection as soon as it is done.
