Exhaust brake using SCT???

Hey guys,

Just finished a bullet proof on my 07 6.0 I received a lot good info and recommendations from guys on the forum. I'm going to be heading to CO in the next couple days pulling a 20' enclosed trailer loaded up with three snowmobiles. Trailer and sleds will be around 6-7,000 lbs. I am currently running a SCT SF3 tuner with an Edge insight cts monitor. I have not up loaded any custom tunes yet and am currently running the two tune that came pre programed with the tuner. I was reading through some of the instructions last night and it mentioned that you can program in an exhaust brake. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what their thoughts/experiences were.

Have you run a custom tune with an exhaust brake? Any info would be appreciated.

I have a tow tune from Innovative with it. It doesn't work like a Jake brake. It provides some resistance but it won't slow you down with just it alone, at least mine doesn't.

I got sct wit the canned tuned and i run the jake brake all the time...luv it...and i got the 6spd handshaker so it worx the the turbo vanes, but on an auto it worx bothe the turb and the auto tranny...

Never mind, mine does have the Jake brake option but a custom tune with brake option acts differently than the canned tune option.

Its not a Jake brake unless you have the actual mechanical valve its just back pressure feature called engine braking. Its not as aggressive as an actual Jake break can be but it works awesome. I run the engine braking tow tune from Vivian while towing 14,000 lbs from Fl to Co and love it.

So I haven't messed with my SCT yet. I picked the truck up from the shop a couple days ago and they had programed it with the canned tow tune. As far as the SCT "jake brake" goes where do I find it in the display? I would assume that I would select the strategy tune from the main menu and it would be somewhere in their? Also, do I need to set the truck back to stock or is that just when switching from one tune to another?
