Question Straight piped kinda

Today I took the muffler off but I dont have anything in its place. Is it going to make anything to hot under there with the exhaust dumping out where the muffler normally starts? I know that alot of you guys have trick exhausts with turndowns or turn out but mine just stops. Love the new sound just don't want to melt anything.

Yeah well that doesn't bother me. The entire undercarriage is different shades of brown so black is an improvement.

Thanks guys! When I went to work yesterday afternoon the gate guard asked me why the truck whistled so loud. All that I could tell him was buy a PSD and you will understand.

If you're gonna do the shorty exhaust then you need to get a 90 degree turn out to dump it out the side...I didn't do this initially and after a while of it dumping straight out under the truck and driving in the rain and such I noticed pitting and discoloration on my rear chrome bumper...the exhaust, which has various chemicals in it was mixing with the moisture/rain in the air and forming an acid...which started attacking the bumper and the bottom of the tailgate...thank god I caught it in time...I just polished the residue/pitting off...and for the last 6 months I've had a 90 degree turn out dumping it w/ no issues...you can get an elbow and straight piece of pipe and some clamps for about $60 or so shipped. Keep an eye on your bumper to make sure this doesn't happen to you.

Not planning on doing the shorty exhaust yet. Although base on the way it sounds I may get the turnout. I plan on just getting a delete pipe. But driving the truck today made me giggle like a little girl.

Definitely get that soot off your truck and get that pipe routed out from under your truck...

Soot is acidic and will ruin your truck in time!

It will be a regular straight pipe soon. But the whistle and sound is just nutz! It was turning everybodys heads. I even drowned out a gen 3 Cummins.
