Play in Steering

took my shop to one of the best alignment shops i've ever been to. guy always does a super job on my stuff and have never had an issue. he tells me that 03-07 6.0 4wd trucks have play in the steering and that none of my components are worn out. my truck is hard to drive and feels like a horse and buggy. he says he is not sure how to get the slack out. has anybody else had this problem and do you have any specific repair ideas?
