I like it! I'd doing the gloss black/bright orange under my hood once I start the teardown.

Not sure if I understand your question. That paint was put on a new surface, so prep work was minimal.

I guess I would start with a solvent and go from there. Most of what I want to paint are parts that will come out.

Yeah I'm painting items that are removable which means I can clean them with a solvent like alcohol to remove the grease and then wipe them down with paint thinner with will remove fingerprints and such. Purple power is another degreaser that can be used but you still gotta clean that off prior to applying paint.
