EGR PROBLEM?

Sorry in advance if this has been posted before but I couldn't find an answer. My engine light came on, took truck in and it was the egr. So they cleaned it, week later light back on took it in. They replaced valve. 10 days or so light came on again on a friday night. Was going to call dealer again on monday but light turned off. Week later light on again then off few days later. Been happeing for several weeks now back and forth. Any suggestions? Just a hassle to but cat back on and stock intake. Any help would be great. Thanks, Mike

P.S Its a 06 f-350 6.0 4"turbo back no cat

find out what the code is. I don't trust very many dealers. Knowing that code is important. members and tech's here could probably diagnose your truck better then your dealership is doing.....since you keep going back.

when you unplug the EGR valve, does it just stay closed all the time then? and basically "bypass" the exhaust fumes being burned a second time?

It does stay closed, at least it's supposed to. I think there is still the possibility of it being 'forced' open, however.

You want to make sure you take the valve out and clean it that way you know it is closed all the way. When you unplugg it make sure your truck is off. Just unplugging the valve will not eliminate the exhaust from going into the EGR cooler. Get the delete pipe and eliminate your problem all together.
