how many amps for the block heater??
so how many amps will the bock heater take. i want to buy a timer but they only go up to 15 amps. will that be enuff or do i need more???

I use 15 amp, works fine...If you get an extension cord over 25' you might want to get a thicker than the standard 16ga. My 50 footer would heat up at the connector so i started using 12ga wire.

I have a 15 amp timer and it works fine. Most likely you are going to be plugging it into an outlet only rated for 15 amp and on a 15 amp breaker. If you pull more than that your breaker should trip.
