HELP HELP HELP PLEASE!!!!
I need some help please.
My truck doesn't have any power steering pressure. Basically feels like the truck doesnt have powersteering, but plenty of fluid and I had the power steering pump replaced a few weeks back. But the strange thing is. The moment i lost power steering, my brake pressure went completely out too. I press the brake all the way to the floor and will only slow it down slightly. Had a shop check it out, just a regular shop, and serviced the brake system. No leaks at all, No air pockets. He did notice my pulley was able to be turn slightly by hand. Not sure if that's suppose to happen. Any help? Thanks in advance, i'm lost and she's my daily driver. |

You have hydroboost for the brakes - it uses the powersteering system.
Sounds like a bad pump again to me. |

i have a warranty on the pump. I just didn't know why my brakes would be completely soft. Almost to the point i'm down shifting just to make sure i can stop in time.
and what's hydroboost? |

Hydroboost is basically your power brakes. Since turbocharged motors operate with a positive airflow instead of a vacuum, like what a normally aspirated engine would has, there's no vacuum booster. By using the power steering pump as a hydraulic pump it can be used as a power assist for the brakes.
If you're driving without power assisted brakes you've got bigger stones than me. I think that's an accident waiting to happen. |
