Should I buy a locker?

Not really the right section but.....

I have a Dana 80 in my truck with factory track lok, well the clutches blew up the other day and took out the abs ring with it.

Question is, should I buy another track lok and new bearings, and swap over the ring gear. Or buy a powertrax locker and drop it in my existing carrier?

The cost is about the same @ $600-700

As far as I can tell the truetrac dosnt accept the abs ring, so that's out.

I don't see why the True Trac wouldn't accept the ring, I have one in my 10.5.

If it's all the same money, I'd get a Detroit Locker. Lock Rights are pretty cool, too. The leg up these have on the Trac Loc is that they won't wear out.

I'm going through the same issue...My clutches are destroyed. Your wasting your time rebuilding the stocker, although cost affective for now you'll be doing it again down the road. Try and do some more research and find yourself a locker. I'll be putting a trutrac in shortly here when I get some time.

Edit: Heres a link for a truetrac for a dana 80 this is the best price I found for mine online. I really don't see why the tone wheel can't be ran on here I also have one in my 10.5.. http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/p-9...odge-ford.aspx

Well it seems too good to be true, but I just bought a new truetrac for $325 shipped.
I went thru eBay and PayPal so I'm protected just in case.
