Advice, please.
Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving!
I finally pulled the trigger and bought an 07 f350 DRW CCLB Lariat with 39k miles on it. I will use this for really only towing my boat, around 13k pounds. Read MANY threads here and am thinking to do the following: - add the IPR high flow coolant filter with manifold - add an Edge CTS with the dash pod and adaptor Anything else I should do immediately?? Thanks in advance, this is a really nice site. Keith |

Egr delete
Think later years have hpop problems too |

Not really. Once you get your Edge, check your parameters, specifically the eot/ect delta is within limits. You might not even need the coolant filter, but for the price it is good to have and an easy installation. I haven't put one on mine, but I am considering it. I already have all the parts sitting in my garage waiting for me to get motivated.
I've put studs in the 2 trucks I have. I got the first set before anyone had really figured out what was causing the head problems, more to make me feel good about having them. The second set on my newer truck is for my injector and turbo upgrades next year. I did the EGR delete as well - fabricated it myself in 08. You may not need to do this and it may be illegal where you live - it's probably not allowed anywhere, it is just that few places actually check for it. Sounds like you have found a baby! I hope you enjoy it. |

Thanks Fellas, the advice is appreciated for sure.
Why do I need to do an EGR delete? Not doubting, just want to understand what I will gain or prevent by doing so. Again, the truck has 39k on it. |

If your state has inspection then look into bullet proof diesel Egr cooler !!

Read the link in my sig and then you'll understand why you get rid of the egr. Other than that the IPR full flow coolant filter is the best out there and highly recommended. Get the CTS and check to see what shape the engine is in. Then flush the coolant and replace with fresh coolant. I'd replace it with a Cat EC-1 rated ELC but at the very least put fresh G-05 in it. Then go from there.

The EGR delete started out as a fix for the blown EGR coolers, which it turns out was primarily caused by the oil cooler blockage that caused the EGR to not circulate coolant which caused puking and blown EGR coolers, which caused water in the intake, blown head-gaskets and engine destruction. All of this from hot/wrong coolant issues, casting sand, poor owner maintenance, and engineers building the tolerances too tight. The other issue was EGR valve problems due to soot build-up from owners idling their vehicles way too much.
FWIW, on the medium duty international trucks with this engine, there is no EGR system. Those trucks were exempt. |

how about a coolant filter kit...
also are you talking about the edge insight CTS or the edge evolution CTS? |

The IPR full flow coolant filter and Gen2 egr delete are the best on the market. forget about the manifold, it won't work with the Gen2 delete. Run the coolant filter off the heater hose.

Is the Bulet Proof or the IPR EGR cooler better, assuming I dont want to delete?
