Possible purchase of 2004 f350

HI all,
i currently have an E99 F250 w/ a 7.3 that I will be giving to my son in 3 years when he turns 16. Locally, a truck came for sale that caught my attention. It is a 2004 F350 Lariat DRW w/6.0L and 160K (stock configuration, with a bully dog intake). The truck was brought up from Georgia, and is probably the best looking truck I have seen. The outside and leather inside is immaculate. I was told an older gentleman had the vehicle and took very good care of it, which he definitely did. The guy is looking for $14,500 for the truck, but with all the issues I hear about with the 2004 6.0's, I am more than a little hesitant. The truck definitely sounds different than my 7.3, which could be the way things are because I never heard a 6.0L run before. I know about the injectors and EGR issues, but is there anything else I should be looking out for. I will have an independent truck shop look at the vehicle, but i just can't find anything nicer in the area I live in, so I thought I would see if this thing checks out OK. Any info would be greatly appreciated

You already know about injector and EGR issues, so you have been doing a little looking. There are many threads on here about what to look for in a 6.0, the problematic parts, and how to monitor these trucks. You definately need to have either gages or a monitoring system for these trucks. I have a Edge CTS and love it. You need to get a good idea what the EOT vs ECT deltas are. Get an OASIS report if you can to see what has been done to it already.
