The 07 5.9 I have is p-pumped (obviously not stock). You also do not have to beat the firewall for a 5.9. Also I can still use my stock tranny. Destroked has kits for about 4,000. Plus I already have the motor. So really all I'm looking at is labor to put the cummins in and the conversion kit. I'm thinking about 7k.

Sounds like your heart is set on the Cummins, and that's cool, but there is a lot of sage advice being sent your way in the previous posts...

The good of a p-pump is that it's mechanical. Not too much to go wrong. But if it does that 2500$. The good of a cp3 is that I can chip/program it. And is a lot cheaper. The bad is that they are know to fail.

I'm just spit-balling here. Any one around the southern st.lousi region willing to help or know a good shop in MO if I just Bulletproof my 6.0. I'd be willing to pay if you know what your doing.

Your kidding right?? I know you didn't say that your bank account couldn't handle the price of bulletproofing the 6.0, but your going to spend $7000 on a cummins swap?? Wheres the logic behind that statement? I mean if you want a cummins then by all means go for it but don't try to call it what it's not. You could easily bulletproof your 6.0 and add a BUNCH of go fast goodies for your $7000 goal.

Been there, done that. Thinking about it that is. Once the estimate climbed over $10K I was done. I got all the stuff I needed and wanted including heads, injectors, studs, gaskets, EGR delete, new oil cooler, coolant filter, SCT 3 and a few other things for WAY under that and I've had 0 issues.

Jus my .02

You'll have a lot less headaches if u just bullet proof the 6.0 with a bpd oil cooler, theres even a 6.0 crate motor studded built by some xompany . or u could always trade ur truck in for a cummins ram. Hopefully you'll make it past 6 months without the body, suspension or trans falling apart

I've just heard a lot of people the have had to do head gaskets several times. Even after they've studded it. I'm really leaning towards fixing the 6.0 now.

That's because the gaskets/studs wasn't installed properly or the heads and block wasn't machined right or guys are loading ridiculously insane tunes right out the shop not giving the gaskets time to settle/bond properly.
