Coolant filter temp guage?

Ive been scratchin my head lately thinking about how to install a temp guage right onto/into the aluminum housing for the filter on my coolant filter. First thing I got to thinking of was like the magnetic temp guage you can put on your fireplace chimney pipe (all the country folk juz shook their heads!). But I think those are for temps way to high.
So you got any ideas? Dosnt have to be a dial guage, Im open to ideas.
