Remote Start

Thinking of installing a remote start on the truck was wondering what you all were using and how you liked them (if any) and if any of you installed your own and how hard it was. So you know any and all opinions/advice you may have about them on a 6.0

I installed a Viper DE 5701. It was a pretty easy install and I'm happy with the unit. If you need the wiring colors for an 05, let me know.

I also put Viper's standalone remote starter in my wife's truck and her dad's and they've been great. Both of them can start them from their offices.

I highly recommend getting a 2-way unit so that you're always sure it's received your commands.

I have a factory installed remote start on my new to me rig. I can't comment on the install but I do like it.

That said, it hasn't really gotten that cold here yet to show a real benefit.

I'll be honest, the remote start isn't of much use to me in the winter. With a ~7.5 gallon cooling system, it takes a lot of time and fuel idling to warm it up.

I have a Clifford alarm/remote start and love it. When I park at night I turn on my high idle mode so that when I start it at my house it'll be warmed up and ready to go.
