Should I replace my thermostat?

Truck runs 180-185 all the time, but it does take a long time to get there. Infact that's the main reason I have remote start on it, it can high idle for the 15 minute run time of the remote start and only get to about 130, after I start driving for about 10-15 minutes it gets up around 185 an stays there. I bet it would help my fuel mileage a good bit if I didn't have to run the truck a good 15 minutes every morning.

I would say its quick and cheap, just do it. But my ebp sensor is bolted to it, so it's a little more trouble.

If you are in La and are having a hard time with warm-up, then yes, I would say change the T-stat.

For sure swap it and it should help. Just a word of advice though only buy them from Ford or International. All the other ones I have used either leaked or where stuck open after the first drive.

Change it sure.... Dont forget even with a new one your truck is a diesel and it will take a while to warm up just sitting at idle. Gets warm when you drive it...

My eot is around 194 and 200 but the ect is steady at 174 climbing up hills it may reach 180 so is my thermostat stuck open? Also I thought you wouldn't have any heat if it was not working?

Mine also runs around 180-182, but it was at 190-192 when it was summer, since the cooler temps it has been running at 180-182 on the cts, should it always run in the 190s no matter what outside temp is?

180's - 190's is normal depending on ambient temps but if it's constantly running in the 170's and struggling to hit 180's then you need a new thermostat.

Thanks Tuscany!! Its been in the 30s- mid 40s here in indiana, my cts shows at 55-60mph ect- 180-184 and eot is -188-192. So i dont think thats too bad, im hoping to get the egr delete and a bpd oil cooler at tax time and a coolant filter. Other than that truck runs great!!
