Magnafluxing vacuum testing heads

If the machine shop does a vacuum test on your heads for leakage, would this identify if your heads are cracked ? My guess is no,but not really sure my thinking is correct. PLease tell me your thoughts

Please let someone more knowledgeable verify this, but I believe the best way to check is through magna fluxing.

no, depending on what they check, it have cracks else where.

where are you located ???

magnafluxing is a brand name......MAG PARTICLE TESTING is what you want.

if you want a real sensitve method, they can do flouresent, under a black light. you can also use a white contrast paint, to help show the indications better.

i have all of this in my garage.

Vacuum testing is highly sensitive testing, never heard of that on heads. I perform vacuum testing on vacuum piping at work, that protect cryogenic systems. As stated above, florescent mag particle testing is probably the best/cost effective way to test for cracks. Pressure testing is essential also, for the areas that are inaccessible during mag particle testing.

Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get.

Vacuum testing is for the valve/seats. They do this to see what kind I shape the valves and seats are in before starting machine work.
