What is causing this and is it bad? (pics)

Not sure what is causing this oil/grime build up, nor do I know if it's bad.

I've got about 500 km on the truck since I bought it. It was more or less like that when I bought it. Just wanted the opinions of some folks if it's something to be addressed by more than a rag?

Thanks.

Caused by the crankcase ventilation system putting oil vapor into the turbo. Look up CCV mod and you'll find lots of info on this. Looks like it might be time to replace those boots. Look into dieselsite dot com or riffraff diesel for those.

Yep, what Mitch said. Reroute the ccv from the air intake before the turbo to atmosphere or however you deem fit. Then get new boots and install them after cleaning out your CAC and CAC tubes and you will be good to go.
